What I thought was going to be a book review turned out to be rollercoaster ride about what it's all about supporting a football team. I recognised some of the tiny events that transform you from being a bystander to becoming a passionate participant in something as uncertain and illogical as football.

I learned a couple of things here including the story about avoiding relegation at Ibrox but did remember the Hampden Jinx aspect of the story. My recollection of the Hampden Jinx was from a slightly different perspective. For me it was all about a team that didn't know how to lose and who would usually leave it to the last 5 minutes in cup finals to turn up, break the hearts of the opposition team and fans and then head off into the sunshine with the silverware. Let's not forget Thatcher getting a fantastic comeuppance at one of those finals. The whole stadium united in their insulting, juvenile but wholly appropriate defiance towards her.

Let's hope that Levein does decide to hang around for a wee while rather than being tempted to Hampden or Ibrox as it might make things a bit more interesting for the rest of us too.

Oh and one last thing, the stand is still windy and there is still precious little leg room!
